Phillip Anderson

Phillip, a native of Smith County, started in the funeral business when he was 16 years of age at the Hackett Funeral home in Smith County. It was his ambition to have his own business. In 1977, he purchased a portion of the present Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home and Memorial Park. In 1986, he purchased the former Alexander Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs renaming it Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home. He purchased the Upton Funeral Home in Celina in 2000. He and his wife, Shirley, purchased the Alexander Funeral Home in 2006. He is a member of the Lafayette Rotary Club where he has served as President and a member of the Cornwell’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Phillip has one son and three grandchildren.

Shirley Anderson

Shirley is a native of Smith County where she retired from the Department of Health with 31 year of service. During this time, she served as the Service Chairman of the Cancer Society, Chairman, Child Development Council, member of the Foster Care Review Board, member of the Truancy Board. After retirement, she worked as Human Resource Director for Carthage General Hospital. After the death of her husband of 30 year, she married Phillip Anderson in Macon County, thus starting in the funeral profession passing the State Board for licensing in 2000. Since coming to Macon County, she has served on the RAD Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Small business Development Week, and Literacy Board and was a member of the Lafayette Garden Club. She has taught Sunday School Classes, was a member of the Church Choir and “Adult Singing Ensemble” at First Baptist Church in Carthage. She is currently a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Carthage. All the watercolor artwork displayed at Alexander, Anderson and Son and Upton funeral homes, as well as on this website were created by Shirley. She has two children and four grandchildren.

Wayne Anderson

Wayne, a native of Smith County, started working full time with his Dad, Phillip, in the funeral business in March of 1987. He is a graduate of the 1989 class of John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science. He serves as the manager of the Phillip Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs and is a nationally eligible Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He and his wife, Lee Ann, have three children, Landon, Logan and Leah.

Lee Ann Anderson

Lee Ann, a native of Macon County, is a graduate of the 1985 Class of John A Gupton College of Mortuary Science. She is a
nationally eligible Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. She started working with the Phillip Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Lafayette in December of 1985 and is in Red Boiling Springs since 1986. She also started embalming for Alexander Funeral Home in Lafayette in 2006. Lee Ann is a member of the Old Bottom Missionary Baptist Church and is active in the Macon County Youth Leagues serving as a coach in softball and basketball. She and her husband Wayne, have three children, Landon, Logan and Leah.

Donald (Skip) Massey
Funeral Director
Skip is a native of Macon County, has worked as a licensed Funeral Director for Phillip Anderson and Son Funeral Homes since 1993. He was retired from TRWO after 20 years and served as a North Central Telephone Board of Directors for 15 years. He serves as a Deacon at the Dixon Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Hillsdale Masonic Lodge #664. He and his wife, Carolyn, have one daughter, Cindy and two granddaughters, Jessi and Kayci.

Gary York
Funeral Director
Gary is a Macon County native, grew up on a farm between the Winkler’s and Walnut Shade Communities of Macon County. Attended school at Red Boiling Springs through the 8th grade and graduated from high school at Gamaliel in 1973. Operated the family farm until early 80’s, then worked at Eaton Axle in Glasgow for 3 years, worked in the automotive business for 17 years, most of the time at the Chevrolet dealership in Tompkinsville, KY, started working in the funeral business in August 2003, taking classes on-line and working full time. He Graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, January 2007. He is a dual licensed funeral director & embalmer in Kentucky and Tennessee. He is married to the former Deanna Smiley, who is a Guidance Counselor with the Monroe County Board of Education and they have one daughter Addison.

Judson Morgan
Funeral Assistant
Judson, a native of Allen County Kentucky, worked 3 year at Alexander Funeral Home as an apprentice funeral director. He has worked part time since 1995 at Phillip Anderson and Son Funeral Homes. He attended the University of Kentucky. He is a veteran and a member of Oak Forest Missionary Baptist Church #2 and serves as the church treasurer. He is married to the former Brownie Andrews.
Larry Sloan
Funeral Assistant
Larry works part-time as a Funeral Assistant. He is a native of Macon County, has worked at Alexander Funeral Home for about 18 months, is retired from G.A.P. Inc. as an assistant supervisor with over 10 years of service, has been a General Baptist Minister for 39 year, and is a member of the Eulia General Baptist Church in Macon County. He has pastured churches in Macon and Sumner Counties. He and his wife, Linda, have been married for 42 year and have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
Amelia Copas
Funeral Assistant
Amelia works part time as an assistant. She and her husband have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. She attends Bethany Missionary Baptist Church and loves gardening.
Sina Lancaster
Funeral Assistant
Sina works as a Funeral Assistant at Red Boiling Springs and Lafayette. She is a graduate of Macon County High School, a Board Member of the Alumni Association, and a member of the FCE Club. She has a son, “Cowboy” and three grandchildren. She lost one of her sons in an accident.
Sandra Overton
Book Keeper / Secretary
Sandra is a native of Crittenden County, Kentucky. She attended Bowling Green Business University, before the English Castle burned. She moved to Lafayette in 1959 and retired from Lafayette Manufacturing Company after 41 year. Sandra is a member of the Lafayette United Methodist Church and Lafayette Chapter of OES #379. She has two sons and six grandchildren.
Roger Bean
Cemetery and Grounds Keeper / Maintenance
Roger has been employed with the Phillip Anderson and Son Funeral Homes and Memorial Park since 2002. Roger takes a lot of pride in making the Anderson and Son Memorial Park such an eternal places. He loves gardening and working outdoors. He and his wife, Diana, have two children and four grandchildren.
Danny Knight
Insurance Agent
Danny has been selling life insurance in this area for over twenty years. He enjoys raising and trading horses and bird hunting. He and his wife, Mildred, live in Westmoreland. They have two children and three grandchildren.
