Dorothy Dean McDougal, better known to her family as “Sweet Mama”, age 67, a current resident of The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 14, 2008 at Macon County General Hospital. Her remains are at the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette. Services and burial for Mrs. Dorothy Dean McDougal will be held in Crane, Texas but are incomplete at this time. She was born in Crane, Texas on March 23, 1941, one of four children born to the late Evert and Maudie Crawford McDougal. In addition to her parents, a daughter, Tracy Henderson, and granddaughter, Brandi Hardee preceded her in death. She was a Truck Driver and was of the Church of Christ belief. She is survived by daughter, Casondra “Candy” McDougal and companion, Randy Saults of Lafayette, TN, son, Shawn McDougal, Abilene, TX, sisters, Darlene Case, Crane, TX, Marsha Welsh, Coalinga, CA, brother, Evert (Dale) McDougal, Jr., Helotes, TX, grandchildren, Joey Hardee, Ft. Ms. Lorraine Payne, age 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, a native of Macon County and a current resident of Knollwood Manor, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 28 at Knollwood Manor.

Pauline Dickens Vetetoe, age 82, of Gallatin, formerly of the Sunrise Community in Macon County, TN passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the home of her sister in Hendersonville, TN. Funeral Services for Pauline Dickens Vetetoe were conducted on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette. Rick Jones, Jay Jones, Harold Carnahan, Brad Law, and Clint Law served as Pallbearers. Interment was in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park. She was born in Macon County, Tennessee on Monday, December 7, 1925, one of three children born to the late Joe C. Dickens and Jewell Elizabeth White Dickens. She was married to Carmack Vetetoe, who preceded her in death. In her early adult life while living in the Sunrise Community, she was a cafeteria worker at the Enon Elementary School. In her later years, she moved to Gallatin, where she continued to live for several years. Ms. Pauline was a member of the Harvest Missionary Baptist Church in Hendersonville. She was born September 13, 1922 in Macon County, TN, the daughter of the late Sam and Lizzie (Moss) Nixon. On November 15, 1938, she married the former Scott Woods, who preceded her in death October 31, 1967. Scott Woods was serving his second term as Mayor of Red Boiling Springs when he passed. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Mack, Cordell, Collie, and Ed Nixon, sisters, Eva Mae Parkes, Annie Knight, and Ruth Bean. Georgia retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Red Boiling Springs September 3, 1987 with 28 years of service.

Barney Taylor passed away suddenly Monday evening at Macon County General Hospital.
A native of Hilham in Overton County, TN, he was born on January 14, 1933, one of nine children born to the late Willie Wenton “Bill” Taylor and Virgie Alba Masters Taylor. He was married on February 4, 1951 to the former Dolores Elaine Richardson, who preceded him in death on December 28, 2004 after 53 years of marriage. Besides his wife and parents, a brother, Bob Taylor and a sister, Nancy Brawner, preceded him in death. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed Electronic Technician and attended the New Community Fellowship Church of God in Adolphus, KY. He enjoyed farming.

He was born January 8, 1927 in Monroe County, KY, the son of the late Leonard Ray Driver and Bessie Jewel (Cropper) Driver. On November 26, 1948, he married the former Frances Lucille Joines, who preceded him in death on December 16, 1991. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his daughter, Joan Driver, sisters, Margaret Ann Driver and Martha Ellen Driver, brothers, Shelvy and Vernice Driver. He was the owner & operator of Driver’s Nursery for over 40 years, retired from Clark & Smith Construction with over 15 year of service and worked at Stitches for over 10 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.

Eugene Smalling was born on Tuesday, May 17, 1927 in Macon County, Tennessee, one of three siblings born to the late Clifford C. and Beulah (Burton) Smalling, who preceded him in death. He was married to the former Evelyn Fuqua on November 22, 1952, who survives. Besides his parents, sisters, Joyce Williams and Viola Smalling preceded him in death. He was a retired truck driver for Sealtest Dairies, managed, with his wife, the former Draper and Darwin Dry Goods, owner of former Amoco Gas Station and farmer. He was a member of the Union Camp Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Shirley Palmer, Jim and Brenda Fuqua, Herbert Fuqua, Louie and Wilma Fuqua, Ray Williams and several nephew and niece.

Larry Thomas Morgan was born on Thursday, November 20, 1947 in Wilson County, Tennessee, one of two siblings born to Climath Carole Powell Morgan, who survives and lives in Macon County and the late Thurman Otis Morgan, who preceded him in death on November 15, 1987. He was married to the former Wanda Faye Mahaney on December 4, 1970, who survives. Besides his father, a granddaughter, Makaya Carter preceded him in death. He was retired from TRW Ross Gear in Lebanon, where he had worked for 41 years and was currently working at Mueller Refrigeration in Hartsville. He loved farming and presently had tobacco crops. He served his Country in the United States Army as a Specialist Five. While serving in the Republic of Vietnam, he was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for distinguishing himself by exceptionally meritorious service in support of allied counterinsurgency operations. During the period of September 1968 to September 1969, he astutely surmounted extremely adverse conditions to obtain consistently superior results. His unrelenting loyalty, initiative and perseverence brought him wide acclaim and inspired others to strive for maximum achievement. Selflessly working long and arduous hours, he contributed significantly to the success of the allied effort. His commendable performance was in keeping with the finest traditions of the military service and reflected distinct credit upon himself and the United States Army. He was a member of the Haysville Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 37 years and his mother, he is survived by, son, Jeff (Evette) Morgan, daughters, Kim (Shawn) Carter, Lori (Clint) Carter, sister, Sherry (Jeff) Massey, grandchildren, Kendrick & Keeley Carter, Allye & Collin Morgan, Morgan & Cadence Carter, and nephew and niece, Thomas & Mary Massey.

Allen Chris Latham, age 52 of Lafayette, TN passed away suddenly July 15, 2008 at the Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, TN. Funeral Services for Allen Chris Latham were conducted Friday morning, July 18, 2008 from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Brother John Gregory officiating. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Woodard, Will McCathran and Junior Fields. Active pallbearers were Adam Nash, Adam Taylor, Gerald Arter, James Latham, Mark Hammond and
Timothy Latham.
Allen was born September 19, 1955 in Boone County, Indiana, the son of the late Leonard Henry and Rebecca Anderson Latham. On February 7, 1981, he married the former Eva Johnson, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Latham. Chris served in the Navy retiring with 20 years of service. While he served his country, he received the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Battle Efficiency Awards, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defence Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and VFW.

She was born on December 20, 1914 in Macon County, Tennessee, one of five siblings of the late William Elmer and Maude Ethel Creasy Jenkins. She was married to Golston Butler on December 23, 1935, who preceded her in death on December 22, 1993. In addition to her husband and parents, her son, Wayne Butler, a brother, Ray Jenkins, a sister, Hazel Gross, preceded her in death. She had worked for 37 year at Formfit Rogers in Lafayette as a Designer of undergarments and at Genesco in McMinnville. Mrs. Pauline was the oldest member of the Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church. Knight on March 9, 1985, who survives. In addition to her father, a step son, Christopher Shane Knight, sister, Rhonda Ray, her paternal grandparents, Bud and Nettie Ray and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Dona Rush, preceded her in death. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Rich passed away Sunday morning, June 29, 2008 at the Knollwood Manor in Lafayette, TN.
She was born November 22, 1920 in Clay County, TN, the daughter of the late George Dewey and Ella Lankford Green. On February 4, 1939, she married Woodrow Wilson Rich, who preceded her in death on June 27, 1994. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, George Rich and a great-granddaughter. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hermitage Springs Church of Christ.

Mrs. Morean Davis Hill passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the age of 87 at her residence in the Sadler’s Chapel Community of Macon County, TN. She was a Homemaker and mother of twelve children.
