Alton Roy Turman was born in Tyrone, Pennsylvania on Monday, February 11, 1924. He departed this life on Monday, September 3, 2012 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 23 days. Memorial services with military honors for Alton Turman were conducted from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6th with family members and friends reflecting upon his life. Alton was a member of the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during World War II as a B57 Bomber Pilot. He later obtained an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma. Alton was instrumental in the opening of the American Greetings plant, where he was the Manufacturing Production Manager for 30 years. He was an avid golfer, spending lots of time on the Macon County Country Club course with his fellow golfing buddies. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Loughner Turman of Lafayette; son, Frank Turman of Morrison; son and daughter-in-law, Alton and Leslie Turman of Omaha, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Elisena and Ed Anania of Lafayette; sister, Abby Lilly of Portland, OR; stepchildren, Kenton Hooge of Waldorf, MD, Kennon and Ashla Hooge, and Kristen and Shannon Woodmore of Hartsville, TN; 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
