Joyce Marie Christensen

Today our mom went to heaven Joyce M January Christensen 84 born July 25 1929 passed at 6:45pm on May 7, 2014. She was born to the late James R and Winona (Sawtelle) January and raised in Parsons, Kansas. She graduated from Parsons Senior High School, Parsons Kansas. Joyce married the late Manley J Christensen, Osnabrock, North Dakota, who preceded her in death. Since 1972 the couple had resided at Nixon Hollow Lane, Defeated, TN. they have 4 living children, Michael D Christensen (Joy), Deborah Powell, Joseph T. Christensen, and Carla Sue Decker; and Manley J Christensen Jr., who died in infancy. Her grandchildren were: Jason Christensen (Heidi), Rachel Hula, Dusty Alley, Bubba Dunbar (Anita), Amanda Owen, Brianna Sexton, Brian Christensen (Jamie), Justin Goolsby, and Cameron Decker and 12 great grandchildren, Morgan, Madelyn, Michael, Paige, Emily, Wes, Ian, Turner, Adelynn, Riley, Brett, Trae and Alexandria. Of the 11 children of the January family; 5 living brothers and sisters: Sondra Robertson, Bob January, Jenny Bolick, Linda Nunnick, and Frank January, many, many, nieces and nephews. At one time, Joyce owned and operated the Smith County Credit Bureau; and later until retirement was employed by D.T. Mcalls.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to her best friend Valerie LeMar for the love and care she provided. Our family would also like to thank the Clinicians from American National Home Health and Gentiva Hospice for the care they have shown our mother and family. And a special thanks to her P.A. Joe Trombley.
